Travel diary 2003

Some photos added as an illustration: the dry land of the Great Sandy Desert seen from the plane, a panorama seen from the Centerpoint tower (southeast, south, west, north and northeast). The Chinese garden of Friendship in Sydney: the dragon wall, a waterfall, round, octagonal or archway openings. The Harbour Bridge seen from a ferry, the old Sydney Hospital, a joey, two echidnas, two or three goannas. The Gold Coast beach and its waves, jumping and smiling dolphins, views of The Rocks and Circular Quay seen from the Harbour Bridge, a barbecue in a red center station.

Animals

The Australian animals: Tasmanian devil (1 - 2), tawny frogmouth (1 - 2), kangaroo, sleeping kangaroo, curious kangaroo, thoughtful kangaroo, detached kangaroo, bounding kangaroo, begging kangaroos, a female with a joey in her pouch, koala, blue-winged kookaburra (1 - 2), laughing kookaburra (1 - 2), pelican, two ibis, a sitting emu, an emu in close-up, a wallaby, some wombats (1 - 2 - 3 - 4). Cape Barren geese, native hens, a black swan, galahs. A fairy penguin, a black currawong. Echidnas (1 - 2 - 3).

Vegetation

Vegetation: Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens, bird of paradise, fig tree, ferns, gum tree (eucalyptus) in the Blue Mountains, gum tree in the red desert, root, banana tree, red flowers in the red desert, dead tree. The sheoaks and their fruits.

Sydney

Sydney: Sydney Opera House by day and by night, after the rain or in a sun ray, its beige hulls lined with tiles and glazed, seen from the harbour. The Bounty in front of the Opera.
A sunset under the Harbour Bridge (1 — 2 — 3 — 4); the iron structure of the bridge, its silhouette, photos taken under it, with details of the riveted steel, the walkway on the bridge and its shadow on the water. The Opera and Bridge, Circular Quay by night and by day, the CBD by night, seen from a revolving restaurant.

Sydney harbour

Sydney harbour: the Gap (1 - 2), beacons and a view from Centerpoint, Woolloomooloo bay, its crane and a pontoon. Sydney skyline (1 — 2 — 3 — 4). Rushcutters bay. The beaches of the harbour, its houses (1 - 2 - 3) and ferries. The Camp Cove beach.

Blue Mountains

The Blue Mountains: A panorama, the gum trees, the barren or green cliffs, the Three Sisters, and the valleys.

Kings Canyon

Kings Canyon: Seen from outside (1 - 2 - 3), a pool, the rock layers, the cliffs (1 - 2), the bottom of the canyon, the garden of Eden (1 - 2 - 3 - 4).

Uluru & Kata Tjuta

Uluru and Kata Tjuta: Uluru seen from the plane or from the ground, its color, its outline at night, the vegetation at its foot.

Tasmania

Tasmania page:
In Launceston, the path along the Tamar and the reflection of lights in the water by night. Cataract gorge with the river (1 - 2 - 3) and the Alexandra suspension bridge (1 - 2 - 3).
The Freycinet peninsula, with Friendly beaches (1 - 2 - 3 - 4), its boulders and debris left by the sea.
Freycinet National Park, a steep pass, a begging wallaby, granite boulders, Wineglass bay, its panorama and its beach.
Cape Raoul in the Tasman peninsula: the cliffs (1 - 2), other capes, thee plateau and its reflection in water, the edge of the cape (1 - 2), clouds landing on the cape.
Hobart by night: buildings, a pub, a brick chimney.
Mount Field national park: the tall trees, the path, a wallaby. The Horseshoe falls, Russell falls (1 - 2 - 3) and its ferns.
Donaghy’s hill lookout: (1 - 2 - 3).
Nelson’s falls: (1 - 2).
Ocean beach.
Lake Rosebery: (1 - 2), dead vegetation on the shore, cloudy weather.
Cradle mountain: the summit, lake Dove, the slopes shrouded in clouds, spinifex balls, some trees almost pruned, trunks glistening with rain, the wooden track winding around the lake, lichen and la moss, a banksia flower.
